Momina Mustehsan is a Pakistani singer and songwriter. She studied Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics at Stony Brook University and graduated with degrees in both subjects.

She first gained attention after singing and co-writing “Pi Jaun” with Farhan Saeed. She later sang “Awari” for the Bollywood film Ek Villain (2014).

Momina became widely popular after appearing on Coke Studio Season 9 (2016), where she performed “Afreen Afreen” and “Tera Woh Pyar.” Both songs became very popular, especially “Afreen Afreen,” which became one of the most-watched Pakistani music videos on YouTube.

Momina Mustehsan's Early Life & Career

Momina Mustehsan was born on 5 September 1992 in Quetta, Balochistan. Her father, Kazim Mustehsan, is a retired Pakistan Army brigadier, while her mother, Huma Mustehsan, is a doctor. She has two brothers, Hashim and Haider.

Because of her father’s army career, Momina spent her childhood in different cities, including Multan, New York, Paris, and Kyiv, but she mainly grew up in Islamabad. She studied at Lahore Grammar School and later moved to the United States. In 2016, she completed two degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University.

Momina did not receive formal music training. She started singing in her school choir and later recorded a cover of “The Blower’s Daughter” in 2004. In 2011, she recorded “Sajna” for Junoon’s 20th-anniversary album.

In 2012, Momina worked with Farhan Saeed on the song “Pee Jaun,” which she co-wrote and performed. The song was later featured on Nescafé Basement in 2015, where she performed it with Hamza Tanveer.
