Nyra Banerjee, born Madhuurima Banerjee on 14 May 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is an Indian actress, model, and television personality. She hails from a Bengali Brahmin family and showed an early inclination toward performing arts. She learned Hindustani classical music and ghazals from her mother and also took Kathak lessons. Her entertainment career began when she was discovered by legendary director G. V. Iyer at the age of 14. Although she was supposed to debut as Sita in a Ramayana adaptation, the project got shelved due to Iyer's demise.
Nyra started anchoring on television while still in school. Despite pursuing a law degree from SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law, she was simultaneously acting in South Indian films. Her debut was in the 2009 Telugu film Aa Okkadu, followed by the Hindi film Toss in the same year. Her career expanded across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam industries. She became widely recognized for her role in Divya Drishti on Star Plus and later appeared in popular shows like Pishachini, Excuse Me Maadam, and Rakshabandhan. She also participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 13 (7th place) and Bigg Boss 18 (20th place).
