Priya was born on August 16, 1999, in Sirsal, Kaithal, Haryana, and moved to Ludhiana, Punjab. Her journey into judo began during her 6th grade when financial struggles forced her to leave private school and join a government school. She met her judo teacher, Harmeet Sir, who introduced her to the sport there. In her very first competition, Priya made a mark by winning a silver medal.
Growing up, Priya faced many challenges, especially due to her family’s financial difficulties. She has shared how her father once approached a minister for help, but they received no assistance. Despite these struggles, her determination and talent helped her rise above the odds and achieve success in judo.
Priya’s talent took her to an international platform when she represented India in the World University Games held in Naples, Italy. This achievement not only brought her recognition but also solidified her position as a dedicated and skilled athlete.
Priya is engaged to bodybuilder Jassee Rajput. The two met at the Sheru Classic event, where their connection quickly grew. Interestingly, Priya was the one who proposed to Jassee. Before tying the knot, they lived together in a live-in relationship for two months.
