Shweta Basu Prasad is an Indian actress known for her work in television, Hindi cinema, Telugu cinema, and Tamil cinema. She won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for her role in Makdee.
Prasad was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and moved to Mumbai as a child. Her mother’s ancestry is from West Bengal, and she can read and write Bengali. Her father is from Uttar Pradesh and has a strong background in theatre.
Prasad started her career as a child actress in 2002 at the age of 11, playing a dual role as Chunni and Munni in her debut film Makdee, which earned her the National Award for Best Child Artist. She later appeared in Iqbal (2005), Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi (2005), and Darna Zaroori Hai (2006). She debuted in Telugu cinema with Kotha Bangaru Lokam alongside Varun Sandesh. She also sang a song for the movie Nenani Neevani.
