Lauren Katie Bell (born 2 January 2001) is an English cricketer known for her fast bowling. She plays for England women’s cricket team as well as domestic sides like Hampshire, Southern Brave, and Southern Vipers. She has also played for Berkshire, Middlesex, Sydney Thunder, and UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Nicknamed “The Shard” because of her tall height, Lauren is one of the rising stars of English cricket. She made her international debut in June 2022 and quickly became a key part of England’s bowling attack.
Early Life & Career
Lauren Bell was born in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, and grew up in a sporting family. Until the age of 16, she was also a footballer and played for Reading FC’s Academy.
She started cricket at Hungerford Cricket Club and became the first girl to play for Bradfield College 1st XI. At just 14 years old, she made her county debut for Berkshire in 2015, where she impressed with her bowling.
Her talent was noticed early, and she went on to play for Southern Vipers in the Women’s Cricket Super League. Over the years, she represented many teams, including Southern Brave in The Hundred and UP Warriorz in the WPL.
